Gardena Lawn Drop Spreader L - 12.5 Litre 400sqm

For even spreading of seed or fertiliser on medium sized areas. Passion every season! The GARDENA Spreader L will let you experience enthusiasm for your garden throughout the entire year. Use it, for example, to fertilize lawns of up to 400 m² in the growth phase or to spread winter grit in frost and snow.

You can regulate the quantity with the ergonomic handle and the practical open/close function allows you to precisely dose the spreading material - in an upright posture without bending down. The special scattering roller helps you to distribute the material evenly so it always gets where it is supposed to go. The patented locking slide with soft plastic lip ensures there is no accidental leakage of spreading material and no leaks after use.

When guiding the drop spreader, you will get good support on any surface thanks to the large-tread wheels with ball bearings that provide a firm grip and the best traction. In addition, the cart is made of materials such as high-quality plastic, a sturdy aluminium bracket and a stainless steel wire rope, which make it resistant to corrosion and breakage. You just need water for cleaning, for example, simply spray it down with the water hose.

* Year-round performance
The Spreader L can be used with spreading material in a variety of particle sizes – with fertilisers, seeds, granulate, sand and road salt. This enables its application all year-round, both in summer and in winter.

* Convenient dosage
The open/close function on the handle enables precise dosage adjustment of the spreading material. Even the spreading quantity can be adjusted on the handle, without straining the back or having to bend down.

* Even distribution
The special spreading roller provides even distribution of the spreading material. The sliding cover, in a 2-component material mix, closes the spreading container so tightly that no spreading material can accidentally spill or trickle out after use.

* For all terrains
The large profiled wheels provide a firm grip and optimal traction on any surface.

* Corrosion- and weather resistant
The spreader is produced of corrosion- and weather resistant material and can be easily cleaned with water.

Technical Specification for the Gardena Drop Spreader L 432-20:

Which fertiliser is the right one?

If you are looking for a suitable fertiliser, you have the choice between mineral and organic fertilisers. Talking about mineral fertilisers, you often come across the term NPK fertiliser. NPK signifies nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K). Nitrogen is needed by plants for growth. Phosphorus strengthens the roots and provides magnificent flowers, leaves, and fruits. Without potassium, the water supply of the plant is disturbed. Using such fertilisers, deficiencies of your plants can be avoided reliably and quickly. Long-term mineral fertilisers in contrast, submit the nutrients more slowly. Reason is that the nutrients are surrounded by a resin cover which decomposes gradually.

Organic fertilisers also have a long-term effect. The best known organic fertilisers are compost and horn shavings or meal. Compost, for example, is suitable as nutrition of many bushes and shrubs. Semi-mature compost is especially rich in nitrogen. It should only be applied to the soil surface as it can damage the roots of the plants if worked in too deeply. Mature compost contains only a few nutrients but improves the soil structure. Additionally, special fertilizers for which the nutrient content is tailored to specific plant species, such as roses, are available.

When to fertilise?

Basically, you should only fertilise in the growing season which begins in February and ends in August. If fertilised longer, the plants can not adequately prepare for their period of rest. They will sprout out new, thin shoots which are sensitive to frost.

Lawn is ideally fertilised once in the spring, then in late summer and at the end of the growing season, in fall. The fertilizer should be applied ontocut grass to make sure that it quickly comes in contact with the soil. After fertilizing, the lawn should be watered so that the fertiliser dissolves and can finally take its full effect.
